Hatillo, Costa Rica
From 6 to 8 km north of Dominical on the costal road that connects the south and central Pacific regions is a sparsely populated farming and fishing community called Hatillo, which does not have a real town center but rather a few roadside sodas and pulperias. Scattered on the hillsides however, are vacation homes with acreages that make a perfect hideaway for those who enjoy a rural environment, pristine and totally undisturbed. Moreover, one of the best kept secrets of the southern region, Playa Guapil, is just a few minutes away; an incredibly beautiful beach, completely unspoiled, it is a paradise omitted from most Costa Rican maps. Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge, one of the most successful conservation stories in the country, is just 3 km away, where a variety of guided walks, birdwatching tours, night safaris and canopy tours are offered.
