Located about 15 km south of Zancudo Beach and 45 km south of Golfito, Pavones is considered remote and not an easy place to get to, but it offers surfers and intrepid travelers the ultimate Costa Rican jungle and beach experience all in one. The best way to get to Pavones is by taxi from Golfito and there are daily flights to Golfito from San Jose.
Those who do not dare surf these awesome waves will enjoy the stunning scenery of the coastline. The scenic black sand beach offers incredible views across the Golfo Dulce. This is a great location to watch sunsets. Sport fishing and other outdoor adventures like canopy tours, horseback riding and kite surfing are available. Those who enjoy quiet times will find the mile-long beach ideal for sunbathing and strolling.
Most vacation accommodations in Pavones are the rustic types with various degree of creature comfort. In the last couple of years however more vacation rentals choices are becoming available.
