Playa Penca, Costa Rica
Playa Penca Costa Rica is a beautiful blue-flag beach located 4 km north of Playa Flamingo and Potrero. Less than a kilometer long, this white sand beach is slightly off the beaten track and rather hard to find unless you ask the locals. Because it is so rarely visited, it has remained pristine and secluded like a little hidden jewel. You can enjoy excellent body-surfing in this protected cove that looks out onto picturesque rock formations and small islands. There is good snorkeling on either end of the beach. From here you can explore 3 other beaches to the north on foot during low tide, and marvel at the tidal pools that trap crabs, sea anemones, brittle stars, darter fish and sea slugs.
Playa Penca vacation rentals feature a few grand villas and some simple beach homes line the beach front of Playa Penca. In the surrounding hills residential development is gradually sprouting. There are luxury vacation rentals with ocean views among the villas in the hillside communities which overlook the long and picturesque bay of Flamingo and Potrero.
