Quepos, Costa Rica
175 km from the Juan Santamaria International Airport and about a 2 and a half hour drive from San Jose, Quepos is a hub of both commercial and tourist activities on the central Pacific coast, thanks to its proximity to Manuel Antonio National Park and an important regional Costa Rica airport located just 4 km away, which serves several flights daily to and from San Jose. The town is home to many Costa Rica fishing charters, is easy to walk around and you can find everything you need, such as travel and tour agencies who have numerous travel deals available, travel centers where you can find information on Costa Rica flights and tours, fast food restaurants, taxis and public buses. In the high season and during festivals, the restaurants and bars come alive with tourists and residents mingling, and the streets become filled with dancing, parades and concerts.
The 7-km stretch of road connecting Quepos and Manuel Antonio is lined with hotels, Costa Rica rentals with a variety of options from large luxury ocean view villas, and luxury condo rentals. Some of the best hotels in Costa RIca can be found here, and in Quepos itself some three star hotels and a variety of low-budget hotels and hostels are available. However Quepos is not short of quality accommodation either; there are reasonably priced vacation rentals within walking distance from the town, and estate villas located slightly uphill with private pools and ocean views. With an international marina project now underway, Quepos is poised to cement its reputation as one of the world’s best deep sea fishing centers.
Apart from sportfishing, Quepos is an ideal base for vacationing families who plan to take their time exploring Manuel Antonio National Park; to learn about local wildlife and rainforest vegetation, experience canopy and zipline tours, horseback riding, kayaking, rafting, or just enjoying the magnificent beaches within the national park.
