The journey between Quepos and Dominical used to take around 2 hours on a bad day; the new highway, completed in 2010, has cut that down to about 40 minutes. From Quepos it is a further 5 minutes ot 7km into Manuel Antonio.

Visitors who thought Manuel Antonio too expensive used to stay in Quepos, where the accommodationa and restaurants are a little more affordable. The new highway between Dominical and Quepos now offers a new possibility; the villas in Dominical offers better value and a dozen more beaches to go to.
