Costa Rica uses the same 110V-60 cycles system as the United States. Europeans appliances will need American flat pin 110V adapters. Laptops and cell phones can be charged. However, outside of the main cities and towns, strength of cell phones reception can vary from weak to non-existent.

If you must have access to internet during your travel, you should confirm with your lodging provider on internet availability and the mode of connection before you book, as Costa Rica is not as wired up as in the U.S. or Canada. Some private vacation rentals may indicate internet access in their listings, but upon arrival you may find that the access is through telephone dial-up or an internet café.
