For those flying into Liberia international airport (LIR), Tamarindo is half an hour’s drive away. If landing at the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, it is possible to catch a connection flight to Tamarindo via Sansa or Nature Air, which lands at the Tamarindo regional airport, about 3 km north of town. If driving from San Jose, allow about 5 hours for the 260 km journey. If you do not want to drive, you can pre-book an air-conditioned airport shuttle van which usually carries eight to twelve passengers.
