For vacation rentals that are managed by property management companies, credit card payments are readily accepted. However, in Costa Rica, it is a common business practice to apply a 3%, or higher, credit card fee on top of the rental amount; so check with your rental agent before confirming the booking.

For self-managed vacation rentals, individual property owners usually do not have the facility to accept credit card payments. However, some property owners are willing to offer a discount if you pay by wire transfer, and this is an amicable win-win solution.
