About Playa Pelada, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
A white sand beach great for walks, shell picking and beach football...
Sunny and clear blue skies, birds, iguanas and monkeys are some of the characteristics of the beach areas surrounding Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones. At the back of both beaches there are many low budget vacation rentals offered by North Americans and Europeans owners. There are a number of furnished villas with private pools ideal for small families, large simply-furnished beach houses for surf groups, and several small hotels and cabinas. Grocery shopping and restaurants are all accessible on foot, with more facilities available in the town of Nosara about 6 km inland.
Guiones beach and Pelada beach are just a few minutes apart with a pathway connecting the two; Pelada beach is smaller, more intimate, and has shaded areas for relaxation. The white sand beach is great for walks, shell picking. There are blowholes and bat caves around the headland, accessible at low tide. Pelada beach is not as popular as Guiones beach when it comes to surfing, but it does have a couple of surfing spots. At around sunset, local fishermen and workers join tourists and ex-pats residents on the beach to play football.
