Puntarenas Vacation Rentals Overview
The province of Puntarenas boasts the most visited national park in Costa Rica, namely Manuel Antonio National Park, and famous Puntarenas resorts such as Los Suenos and Jaco Beach; together these Costa Rica vacation destinations make up the bulk of Puntarenas vacation rentals. Other vacation hotspots in Puntarenas include Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Montezuma and Tambor across the Gulf of Nicoya. By taking a ferry across the Gulf of Nicoya from the city of Puntarenas to Paquera or Playa Naranjo, those landing in San Jose can access these destinations in southern Nicoya Peninsula without having to drive north to Tempisque Bridge.
Puntarenas Beach Rentals
Corcovado National Park, named by National Geographic as the most biologically diverse spot on earth, lies in southern Puntarenas, two hours south of Dominical. The highway that connects Manuel Antonio and Quepos with Dominical and Uvita was completed in 2010, and is today the best road in the country, bringing accessibility to a large inventory of Puntarenas beach rentals located in close proximity to some of the most pristine beaches in Costa Rica. While many vacation rentals in Dominical, Uvita and Ojochal are located in the rainforest hills with breathtaking ocean view, there are beach rentals at Playa Dominicalito where the villas are a few minutes walk from Dominicalito Beach.
Luxury Rentals in Puntarenas
A high proportion of luxury rentals in Puntarenas can be found at Los Suenos golf and beach resort and Manuel Antonio National Park. Visitors with expensive taste will find opulent estate villas and luxury condo rentals in Los Suenos with views of the fairways and Herradura Bay. While majority of the Manuel Antonio vacation rentals are scattered over a mount, there are some exceptional luxury villas in Manuel Antonio that offer walking access to the postcard beaches that made the park famous.
Condo Rentals in Puntarenas
Visitors to Costa Rica will be pleasantly surprised to find abundant condos rentals in Puntarenas that are within walking distance to shops and restaurants in the resort town of Jaco Beach. Indeed the biggest advantage of a Jaco Beach vacation is that cars are not necessary, since majority of the vacation rentals in Jaco are beach condos and apartments located right in town. Not far from Jaco Beach, cars are also optional for those enjoying a vacation in Costa Rica’s premier residential community, the Los Suenos golf and beach resort; not only golf carts can be rented to get around the resort, it is also self-contained with a dozen restaurants and a variety of supply shops and services in the resort village, where everything is available to make a vacation in Costa Rica effortless.
Hotels and Resorts in Puntarenas
As one can see on the map of Costa Rica, Monteverde Cloud Forest is largely in Alajuela, but the entry to the biological reserve is in Puntarenas via Santa Elena and Monteverde, where family-run lodges and bed and breakfasts are the dominant type of accommodation. The same can be said of the lodging in Puntarenas’ Playa Hermosa and the three esterillo beaches that make up Playa Esterillos. There are dozens of quaint hotels and lodges along the 7-kilometer stretch between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, where a wide spectrum of the hotels and resorts in Puntarenas is represented, ranging from affluent luxury resorts to some of the most affordable lodges and bed and breakfasts in Puntarenas. Further south, backpackers and surfers traveling on a shoestring will be delighted to find plenty of budget hotels in Dominical; couples and families however will enjoy one of the hotels and lodges operated by Americans or Europeans that dot the highway to Uvita and Ojochal.
